Theyβll never take our rainbow, baby. THROUGH JULY 31: LETβS HAVE A BALL! The Harvey Milk Photo Center presents a World Cup-worthy show curated by Nicola Bosco-Alvarez, which invited queer artists of every medium to βsubmit work that engages with the theme of the βballβ in all its forms: celebration, glamour, performance, resistance, intimacy, and play. THROUGH JULY 31: DIRECTORY OF DREAMS: BAY AREA LESBIAN ECONOMIES AND RADICAL CARE, 1970-1995 βCurated and co-presented by the Bay Area Lesbian Archives, this exhibit traces the everyday labor of Bay Area lesbians who refused erasure and built community networks rooted in care, solidarity, and economic self-determination. PRIDE NIGHTLIFE AT CAL ACADEMY Weβve long adored the Best of the Bay-winning Nightlife evening parties at Cal Academy (they are terrific single-mingle events), and the annual Pride edition never fails to deliver: Oaklash and Nicki Jizz bring the drag, SalenieΒ andΒ BRIIZA add the tunes, Verasphere offers eye candy, plus thereβs Off the Grid food trucks, aura photography, and tons more throughout the joint. AFTER DARK: QUEER SCIENCE AT THE EXPLORATORIUM Singing βqueer scienceβ like Oingo Boingoβs βWeird Scienceβ in my head all week has really helped me get through! βLearn about the fascinating history of the 606 Social Club, a secret society for queer and trans naturalists. Explore the variety of forms family can take, and do a creative activity with the Explainers to highlight and celebrate you in your own skin. SAN FRANCISCO TRANS MARCH 2026 One of the five or so canβt-miss events of Pride, and needed now more than ever. BUSTINβ OUT 2026: PARTY AGAINST THE PRISON INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX An annual after-trans-march party that not only raises money for organizing work led by currently and formerly incarcerated Black Trans peopleβitβs also a total hoot full of hotties, packed with hundreds of transgender and gender-expansive community members from across the Bay Area. LOVERS BALL Ballroom culture in the Bay Area deserves more shine, and the voguers and walkers of Oakland To All are making it happen. this is the fifth anniversary of this tremendous event that showcases the incredible talent we possess here, with commentators Precious and Spiider, beats by Blossom and AALIGN, and competition categories that include Beginners Runway: Model in Training, $200 Body: Welcome to The Jungle, and $600 Runway: Vintage Archive, plus of course $1000 Performance: Lovers Ball. THE QUEEN IS DEAD Two of our favorite indie nightsβBritpop-heavy Leisure and indie-dance Fringeβteam up under one roof for a Pride blowout. Fringe takes care of all your singalong electro-pop hits in one Cat Club room, while Leisure celebrates the 40th(!!!) anniversary of Smiths masterpiece The Queen Is Dead (yes it was released in June 1986) in the other. PRIDE FRIDAY AT THE LOOKOUT Have you been to the Castroβs Lookout bar lately? Itβs gotten a mighty refresh and some underground vibes (I also love that it is within stumbling distance of my home). SAN FRANCISCO DYKE MARCH 2026 One of the events that inspires true Pride with its radical politics, the Dyke March rally moves from Dolores Park onto Dolores + 18th Street this year (with special musical guests The Homobiles), but rest assured the park will be full of gloriously reveling, rebelling dykes all day. HARD FRENCH βΌs LOS HOMOS FIN I could write a book about the brilliantly raucous Hard French parties, especially the Pride ones, which for the past 16 years have been the epitome of legendary. (If you remember the old soul 45s in the alley behind Mezzanine, you can sit with us.) Now the crew is calling it quits, but not without one final Pride blast. PINK BLOCK PRIDE 2026 Sheβs absolutely huge!! This annual blocks long blast for Polyglamorous + Great Northern has a roster of zillions including DJs Honey Dijon, Analog Soul, Gay Marvine, Beverly Chills, Booty Juice, M3, Queenie, and BEYA, and lots more besides to shake your pink at. GALANTIS I donβt really know if epic pop-EDM giant Galantis is queerβbut I do know one of my favorite gay moments of my gay life occurred on a gay couch with queen Felicia Fellatio during Folsom Street Fair weekend while I was on K watching Galantis videos like a decade ago, back when they were a duo. 56TH ANNUAL SF PRIDE PARADE: βRESISTANCE IN ACTION!β βOne point six miles of resistance and joyβ as one of the worldβs largest displays of fabulous gay pageantry fills Market Street. Even if the corporate sponsors (who are of course dwindling, as fair weather friends do) turn you off, itβs always worth dipping into the tremendous vibe of the Parade and feeling the Pride. JUANITA MORE! PRIDE *The* see-and-be-seen scene, as hundreds of hotties pack Jones club with fashionable Pride intent. MIGHTY REAL PRIDE Looking for some soul in your Pride? This annual party has moved from its Phoenix Hotel origins to the rooftop of SVN West, filling the skies with the soulful house sounds of DJs David Harness, Tedd Patterson, and vocalist Ultra NatΓ©, whose eternal βFreeβ remains a Pride anthem 30 years on.
