Trump FREAKS OUT as $88 Million Loss Haunts Him
Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down the DOJ’s criminal investigation into E. Jean Carroll, the 82-year-old former magazine columnist who two separate federal juries found was sexually assaulted and defamed by Donald Trump, awarding her nearly $88 million in total verdicts upheld by the Second Circuit. The investigation centers on a 2022 deposition where Carroll told Trump attorney Alina Habba that no one else was paying her legal fees. It later emerged that LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman’s nonprofit, American Future Republic, had covered some litigation costs. Carroll’s lawyers disclosed the funding before trial. The Second Circuit already considered the issue and rejected it, writing that Carroll “plausibly represented that she had forgotten about the limited outside funding” and “simply was not involved in the matter of who was or was not funding her litigation costs.” Brian and Shant, who handle cases like this daily, say deposition corrections before trial are routine and not perjury. The timing is telling: the investigation lands while Trump’s appeal of the $88 million judgments sits before the same Supreme Court justices he just hosted for dinner with King Charles.
