Polanskiβs opposition to βZionism is Racismβ motion condemned by Natalie Strecker
Jersey-based anti-genocide and peace activist Natalie Strecker is appealing to Green Party leader Zack Polanski to back the βZionism is Racismβ motion at the Green Party conference in October.
Strecker was found not guilty in December 2025 on βterrorβ charges for supporting the Palestiniansβ right of resistance to Israelβs occupation.
My video is an appeal to @ZackPolanski and those in the Jewish community, to really think about what they are asking and how tone death it is and how it smacks of soft anti-Palestinian racism. Strecker posted:
Even from a perspective of keeping the Jewish community safe at a time of actual real antisemitism increasing, in a large way due to the conflation of the POLITICAL ideology of Zionism and Judaism and Israel and the Jewish community, the only wise course of action is to separate Zionism and Judaism
Strecker said in her video that one cannot address femicide without naming misogyny. One cannot address the horrors ICE is inflicting on brown and marginalised communities in America without naming white supremacy. And one cannot address genocide, apartheid, occupation, a hundred years of ethnic supremacy in Palestine without naming Zionism.
Polanski tells Zeteo he opposes the motion
But Polanski has made his position clear: he opposes the βdivisiveβ Zionism is Racism motion, at least in its current form. Speaking at a Zeteo live event in London, he framed his objections around two amendments he wants to see before heβd support it. The Crispin Flintoff Show shared the clip from the event.Β
He doesnβt dispute the racism charge itself.
If what youβre talking about is what this Israeli government is carrying out in the name of Zionism, the genocide and displacement of the Palestinian people, then of course thatβs quite obviously racist.
His first objection is about safeguarding Jewish members of the Green Party not being included in the motion.
If someone stands against the occupation, stands against apartheid, stands against the genocide, but happens to be a member of a synagogue that calls itself a Zionist synagogue, they should not be treated any different within the Green Party.
His second is the call for a single Palestinian state. He said.
Thereβs something quite imperial about the British governmentΒ or indeed the Green Party of England and Wales β deciding what the future settlement of Palestine and Israel looks like.
The Guardian reported last week that Polanski had asked the partyβs ruling executive committee to postpone the annual conference. The committee voted the request down on 17 September.
The conference is due to begin in Brighton on 2 October, with the Holborn and St Pancras by-election taking place on 8 October.
