It’s a scientific fact that our weather is getting more extreme. Storms are stronger. Temperature swings are wilder. This summer set records as the hottest in the history of the United States.

Behind the statistics and scientific patterns are human stories about people whose lives have already been upended by extreme weather events and the turmoil that follows. Luke talked with a resident of Gary, Indiana who lost power for half a month this summer. Then he connected with a man who lost his home and his sister in last year’s devastating wildfires in Southern California.

How do we recover, rebuild, or prepare? What are people across the country (and the world) up against? And what can we do about it? Luke sought answers from a meteorologist in South Florida who’s been warning us about climate fueled extreme weather for years.
