A new Supreme Court ruling has fundamentally weakened the Voting Rights Act, making it significantly harder to challenge racial discrimination in voting maps. By allowing discrimination to be disguised as partisan strategy, the ruling opens the door to widespread erosion of representation—from Congress down to local government.
