Itβs easy for us to lose sight of ICE because β although ICE is making even more arrests and deporting more people than ever before β ICE is no longer announcing its dragnet sweeps, no longer boasting of how many people itβs caught, and no longer targeting specific cities like Minneapolis and Chicago but is instead spreading out all over America.
But make no mistake: ICE continues to terrorize people all over America, including many who have full legal rights to live and work here.
Whatβs also less understood are the economic costs β how much you and I are paying for ICE, directly in our taxpayer dollars, indirectly in an economy thatβs less productive than it used to be, and in a society thatβs more fearful and less just.
