The Poster Child for Trump’s Republican Party

Senator Eric Schmitt’s disturbingly reckless, incompetent, and uncivil questioning of former Special Counsel Jack Smith serves as the poster child for the inability and/or refusal of the Republican party to govern competently.

I won’t recount the details of Schmitt’s very public implosion, as it’s an incident that has already launched a thousand memes.

And shockingly – but not surprisingly – Sen. Schmitt is doubling down today, even though his false accusation against Jack Smith has been fully and definitively exposed.

I will never understand how being a member of Trump’s Republican party means never having to admit you’re wrong, even when you clearly and indisputably ARE wrong, and never having to say you’re sorry, even when there is so much to be sorry about.
