North West Performing In Chicago This Weekend

LAKEVIEW — As rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, prepares to make his Chicago return with two shows this week, his daughter North West will also take the stage for her own performance at The Vic Theatre.

North West, the 13-year-old daughter of Ye and Kim Kardashian, will be performing Saturday at The Vic, 3145 N. Sheffield Ave., in Lakeview. The Vic and Kardashian announced the tour on Instagram Thursday, and tickets went on sale Friday.

The show is open to all ages. North West’s performance kicks off 7:30 p.m., with doors opening an hour before. Tickets start at $29.68 for general admission.

Ye will be performing Thursday and Friday at Soldier Field as part of his “Bully” tour. He has generated numerous controversies in recent years by making antisemitic and bigoted remarks. He took out a full-page ad in The Wall Street Journal in January to apologize for past comments ahead of his album release and comeback tour.

Ye’s last Chicago performance followed his 2021 release of “Donda,” a tribute to his mother. The show included a replica of the rapper’s childhood home in South Shore.

North West’s Vic show comes weeks after she canceled her 14-date Kimokawaii tour with 21-year-old rapper Molly Santana. The tour was set to begin in Dallas Aug. 5, with stops in cities like Atlanta, New York, Toronto and Chicago.

“I was really excited to go on tour [with] Molly Santana,” North West wrote in an Instagram story when the tour was canceled. “Sadly it isn’t happening anymore but I have something special for u guys see ya soon.”

North West dropped her debut EP “N0rth4evr” in May. The six-track record mixes rage rap, hyperpop, emo trap and metal elements. Prior to its release, North West collaborated with artists like FKA Twigs, Lil Novi and skaiwater.

In June, she made her first solo festival debut at Summer Smash at suburban Bridgeview’s SeatGeek Stadium.
