‘The Bear’ Gets 8 Emmy Nominations, With Nods To Ayo Edebiri And Rob Reiner

CHICAGO — “The Bear” may have just dropped its fifth and final season, but it’s still in the running to win awards for season four.

The Chicago-set series earned eight Emmy Award nominations for its penultimate season — which was released in June 2025 — including one for Outstanding Comedy Series, despite its unrelenting chaotic atmosphere. Other category nominees include “Abbott Elementary,” “Hacks,” “Margot’s Got Money Troubles,” “Nobody Wants This,” “Only Murders in the Building,” “Shrinking” and “Widow’s Bay.”

The Television Academy announced this year’s nominations Wednesday.

Ayo Edebiri, who plays ambitious sous-chef Sydney Adamu in “The Bear,” is up for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series. She previously won for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for the show’s first season, and has several other nominations tied to the series, including Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for the season three episode “Napkins.”

Jamie Lee Curtis and the late Rob Reiner received nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress and Actor for their recurring roles in the series. Curtis plays Donna Berzatto, the volatile matriarch of the Berzatto family, while Reiner appeared as a restaurant adviser in season four. Curtis previously won in this category for the show’s second season.

The show’s four other nominations include a directing nomination for “The Bear” creator Chris Storer and nods to the show’s cinematography, sound mixing and picture editing. Find all eight nominations here.

The winners will be announced at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, airing Sept. 14 on CBS and Paramount+.

This is the least amount of Emmys the show has been up for yet since debuting in June 2022. The FX on Hulu series follows a Chicago chef and his staff as they attempt to turn a classic Italian beef restaurant into a fine-dining establishment.

The cast includes actors Jeremy Allen White (Carmy), Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Richie) and Liza Colón-Zayas (Tina), who were previously nominated and awarded Emmys for their roles on the show. White, who has been nominated for three consecutive Emmys for “The Bear” and won twice, isn’t up for Best Actor in a Comedy Series this year.

Last year, “The Bear” got 13 nominations for its third season but took home zero wins. The show also made history last year with Edebiri, who was the first woman to be nominated for both acting and directing in a comedy series in the same year.

The show previously held a then-record-setting tally of 23 nominations for its second season, winning 11 of them.

The final season of “The Bear” premiered on June 25 on Hulu/FX. Across four seasons, the series has garnered 57 Emmy nominations and 21 wins so far.
