Ronald McNair was the second Black American in space, and his inspirational story changed the course of Charlie Bolden’s life. With Ron McNair’s encouragement, Charlie Bolden applied to NASA, and was selected in their second group of Space Shuttle astronauts. He was later appointed by Obama to become NASA’s Administrator.
