Obama Center Tickets Are Sold Out. Here’s How To Get Them Next Time. 

JACKSON PARK — Additional tickets for the Obama Presidential Center went on sale 10 a.m. Wednesday morning and sold out only two hours later. 

Wannabe museum visitors joined an online queue and soon found that many desired days and times sold out almost immediately. By noon, all the tickets were gone.

Have no fear! The museum will update ticket availability at 10 a.m. on the second Wednesday of every month. Check the museum’s website next on Aug 12. 

“The response to tickets for the Museum at the Obama Presidential Center has been nothing short of extraordinary,” an Obama Foundation spokesperson wrote in an email to Block Club. 

“We are so grateful to feel the excitement from people across the city and the world to visit.”

Obama Center founding members who contribute a recurring donation to the museum will receive early ticket access on the first Wednesday of the month. 

Tickets are sold by timed entry with visit dates available six months in advance. Tuesday visits are free to Illinois residents. 

The Obama Center, 6001 S. Stony Island Ave., launched its Juneteenth opening with performances from Common, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder and Bruce Springsteen. 

The center includes a new branch of the Chicago Public Library, a recreation of the Oval Office, and a playground, the first play space tied to a presidential museum. 

The Obama Center is also offering several free events this summer that do not require a ticket to attend, such as a house music celebration on the outdoor John Lewis Plaza and a tour of the museum’s vegetable garden. A full calendar of events is available here.
