Nothing draws attention like a sex scandal, so it’s unsurprising that there’s been so much focus — even from across the pond — the last 24 hours on the allegations that Mayor Kaohly Her made inappropriate comments to St. Paul Police Chief Axel Henry and other employees. Her has apologized for “attempts at humor” that fell short and said she will stay in office. However this shakes out, just know that no one seems to be able to agree on whether it’s “wiener” or “weiner.” And listen: my culture is not your costume.

Buddhist studies scholar Erik Davis, who teaches at Macalester College, is one of 15 defendants indicted for being part of a conspiracy to “impede or injure” Immigration Customs and Enforcement officers during Operation Metro Surge.

“It’s bewildering. It seemed weird and laughable,” Davis said of the indictment. “It felt like the length of the indictment was a cover for how thin it actually was. I’m a professor. I’ve seen people pad out papers when they’ve got nothing to say.”

The Physicians for Human Rights and the Human Rights Center at the University of California Berkeley have released a study showing that Minnesota accounted for one-quarter of nationwide incidents of crowd-control weapon misuse between June 2025 and June 2026.

“Compared to other cities, like Los Angeles, which saw a large amount of the use of kinetic impact projectiles like rubber bullets,” writes Katrina Pross, “the study found Minneapolis saw excessive use of chemical irritants like tear gas.”

Back in 1861, a group of seminarians and teachers in Wasioja, Minn., became some of the first volunteers of the Civil War, and now the site of their seminary and the recruiting station where they volunteered have been restored and preserved.
