Minneapolis police investigating two weekend mass shootings

Minneapolis police are investigating two mass shootings in less than 24 hours.

Nine people were shot early Sunday morning outside an Uptown nightclub, MPR News reports. Two of the victims were hospitalized with potentially life-threatening injuries but both were expected to survive, police said.

Fewer details were available this morning from a Sunday night shooting near East 19th Street and Nicollet Avenue, but police confirmed to KARE 11 that five adults were shot in the incident.

ProPublica and the Star Tribune continue their investigation into child sexual abuse in the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, where “a culture of normalized sexual abuse” spanned generations as victims went on to abuse others.

The Trump administration has stopped briefing state election officials on election security threats, leaving them with gaps to fill on their own. “You can’t just buy that off the shelf,” Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon tells Vote Beat. “You can’t hire a private vendor to give you a U.S. government-grade intelligence assessment.”
