It’s officially Jimothy Summer in Seattle, with the recent outpouring of photos, videos, artwork, and even tattoos to honor the very round and long-legged raccoon that wanders the streets of Ballard.

Seattle City Councilmembers Alexis Mercedes Rinck and Dan Strauss made an official city proclamation on Sunday, July 26 at Bergen Place Park, naming the season β€œJimothy Summer.”

Dozens signed up for the art contest, and everyone present was invited to vote on their favorite piece. The winner was Virginia McFadden for her β€œSaint Jimothy” stained glass piece, which will now hang in Seattle City Hall all summer.

Since Kiana Hall posted her Jimothy video from near the Ballard Goodwill on July 14, the world has gone wild for the leggy raccoon. He’s been on almost every major news network in the country, and new sighting videos are popping up almost daily.
