It Could Feel Like 105 Degrees In Chicago This Week

CHICAGO — The city could feet as hot as 100 degrees Tuesday, with more heat coming during the week.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook that warns there will be an excessive heat risk through Thursday. The weather won’t be as “oppressive” as what Chicagoans saw earlier in July, when it felt as hot as 108 degrees, but people should still take precautions like taking frequents breaks in the shade if they’re outside and limiting outdoor time during the hottest part of the day, according to the weather agency.

Tuesday is expected to hit 91 degrees and be sunny, but it’ll feel closer to 100 degrees in some parts of the city, according to the National Weather Service. The agency has also warned there will be poor air quality through midnight Wednesday, with people urged to stay inside if they’re part of a sensitive group.

The worst of the heat is expected Wednesday, when temperatures are expected to top out at 94 degrees — though it could feel as hot at 105 outside, according to the National Weather Service. The day will be mostly sunny.

Thursday will see a high temperature of about 89 degrees, and it could again feel more like 100 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Afternoon breezes off of the lake could provide some relief to people near the water, according to the National Weather Service.

Friday through Sunday aren’t expected to feel as hot, but thunderstorms are possible, according to the weather agency.
