Dante’s Pizzeria In Logan Square Temporarily Closed

LOGAN SQUARE — Dante’s, a popular metal-themed New York-style pizzeria, has gone dark, at least temporarily.

The pizzeria at 3028 W. Armitage Ave. temporarily closed last weekend, owners announced on social media and on the restaurant’s website. Signs on the door indicate it’s closed and its usual neon signs have been turned off.

“We are temporarily closing operations at this location,” the team wrote on its website. “Delivery and carry-out orders can be placed at our Chicago Avenue location.”

Dante’s Tavern, 1936 W. Chicago Ave in West Town, which opened in 2020 first as a pop-up for delivery and carryout, is now the restaurant’s last open location.

The Logan Square location, a mainstay for neighbors since opening in 2011, was the first permanent spot for the local pizza chain.

Georg Simos, Dante’s co-owner, did not return a message seeking comment. Simos also owned other Dante’s locations that have since shuttered. The Ravenswood location closed in 2019, and the Avondale and Humboldt Park restaurants closed in 2020.

Alongside his business partner, Alex Tsolakides, Simos also previously owned Crown Liquors in Logan Square, which closed in 2020, and the now-closed High Dive bar in West Town.
