Conover: Downtown gunman’s plea deal in 2024 shooting came after losing contact with victim

David French, charged with shooting nine last weekend, took a plea deal and got probation for firing a rifle at someone while drunk in 2024. That deal was offered after prosecutors “lost contact with the victim,” County Attorney Conover said.
