Cascade PBS wins 5 Emmy and 18 SPJ Awards
Itโsย been a good week for the Cascade PBS newsroom, editorial, and creative services teamsย as prestigious regional awardsย wereย announced.ย
The 2025ย regional Emmyย awards were held on Saturday, and Cascade PBSย wonย fiveย awards from the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences after being nominated for a total ofย 13ย Emmys.ย
โOrigins: The Lastย Reefnettersโ received fourย Emmyย awardsย for โThe Invasionโ in Historical/Cultural โ Short Form Content, โThe Changerโ in Diversity/Equity/Inclusion โ Short Form Content,ย itsย Season 3 Promoย in Promotion โ Non-News-Single Spot, and Graphic Arts. Recipients included Director Samuel Wolfe, Co-Director Tyler Rowe,ย Executive Producer Sarah Menzies, Senior Producer Sarah Hoffman, Production Manager Adam Brown, Design Director Greg Cohen, and Graphic Designer Nick Alexander.ย ย
Cascade PBSโ Creative Services team won an Emmy for theirย Viewers Like Me Campaignย in the Promotion โย Nonย News-Campaign category. Recipients includedย Jason Devore,โฏJeremy Cropf,โฏKaylie Connors,โฏArlo Greene,โฏMatthew Jorgensen,โฏLucas Marchi,โฏKotta Katsuda,โฏEllen Lee,โฏMonica Arroyo,โฏKeaton Hanna,โฏElla Louise Khan,โฏHuanranย Mao,โฏMelanie Kwon.ย
The other nominations for Cascade PBS included episodesย ofย Mossbackโs NW,ย The Nosh with Rachel Belle,ย Out & Back with Alison Marielle Dรฉsir,ย The Newsfeed,ย as well asย our documentaryย Wolf Land, andย craft nominations forย Brangien Davis for Writer, Brianna Dorn for Director, and David Quantic for Editor.ย
Then, on Monday, the Society of Professional Journalistsย Region 10ย announced the results of its 2025 NW Excellence in Journalism competition, and Cascade PBS won 18 awards, including seven first-place awards in the five-state regional competition. In the press release from SPJ,ย Cascade PBS was listed as one of the โtop awardedโ newsrooms, and multimedia journalist Jaelynn Grisso also got a shout-out as โthe leading television journalistโย in the competition.ย

Every full-time reporter that was working in the newsroom in 2025 won at least one individual awardย in the SPJ competition, and the news team also took second place in the General Excellence in writing category amongst all โLarge Newsrooms,โ with a judge calling the coverage, โAll killer, no filler and something readers value.โ Here are the audio,ย videoย and written stories the newsroom was honored for, with judgeโs comments (when they were included):ย
