Leak links Boris Johnson to Farageβs Β£5m sugar daddy
Nigel Farage is facing serious scrutiny right now because of a Β£5m βgiftβ he accepted from a dubious, foreign-based crypto billionaire. And as reported by Nerve News, Boris Johnson also accepted a gift from the same man:
NEW: Boris Johnson failed to declare to parliament a gift of private jet flights from the same cryptobillionaire, Christopher Harborne who gave Β£5m to Nigel Farage, leaked documents reveal.

Isnβt Reform UK supposed to be theΒ alternative to the Conservative Party?
Because the donors donβt seem to have got the memo.
Farage β Scandalous
Earlier this year, we learned that Farage had failed to declare a Β£5m lump sum he received from crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne. As Alonso Gurmendi summarised:
Here are the facts as laid down by Derbyshire:
1) Farage says he wonβt run
2) crypto billionaire pays him Β£5mill
3) Farage U-turns and runs
4) Farage hides the donation
5) Farage announces if he wins the election he will slash capital gains tax for crypto firmsSame old same old
Farage is facing multiple investigations into this. And between Farage and his party, Reform has taken well over Β£10m from Harborne. As Maddison Wheeldon ably reported for the Canary:
the super-rich have precious little appreciation for the value of money. However, itβs abundantly clear to everyone else that no one donates over Β£10mβ¦ unless they are going to get something of far greater value in return. The fact that he was βgiftedβ it prior to him becoming MP is surely just indicative of the intentionΒ to get the far-right businessman aΒ foothold in British politics.Β
Farage could face a by-election if the investigations donβt go his way. He could potentially face much worse:
Farage *may* avoid prison for what is publicly known. But I’m certain if he is fully investigated he’ll end up serving 10 years min.

Now, it seems like Farage wasnβt the only one who may have failed to declare gifts from Harborne.
Boris Johnson
According to Carole Cadwalladr, Johnson is accused of breaching the same parliamentary rules that Farage is being probed over. She added:
Harborne provided his private jet & pilot to Johnson in Jan 2023, after heβd resigned as PM but when still an MP.
There is no record of the gift in Johnsonβs Register of Members Interests.

Cadwalladr highlighted that Harborne also handed Johnson Β£1m after he stepped down as PM β something we covered previously:
Johnson flew to Poland en route to meeting Zelenskyy in Kyiv.
And Harborne didnβt just supply the jet. The leaked schedule notes he went too.
And he had his own interest in Ukraine. He was & still is the largest individual shareholder in UK defence company, QinetiQ

You can read theΒ Nerveβs full investigation here.
Harborne is threatening to sue them for defamation, by the way. His lawyers have not explained what was defamatory, though, so we canβt tell you which bit is supposedly inaccurate.
More of the same
This latest revelation is a further sign that thereβs no difference between the Tories and Reform UK. Well, no difference besides the fact that Johnson didnβt get pulled up when he was still an MP, anyway. The same might not prove true for Farage, and weβre looking forward to him getting forced out of office if things donβt go his way.
